Real Life Stories - living with arthritis

Enid's Story

(Enid is a member of Arthritis NSW.)

People with rheumatoid arthritis have benefited greatly from the research that is continuing world-wide. Rheumatoid arthritis is a painful debilitating disease.

I developed rheumatoid arthritis nearly 50 years ago when I had 5 young children. This was not an easy time as I was often in pain, very limited in my activities, tired and depressed .

As time went by I learnt about medication ,exercise, the value of a balanced diet and the need for rest and my health improved.

Though I still carry deformities, my husband and I have travelled Australia and over-seas. I love gardening but have limited abilities now. I do voluntary work for my church and Arthritis NSW.

Having 13 wonderful grandchildren gives me much pleasure and we enjoy visiting and being visited.

I look forward to further enjoyment in my life and further improvement from the research to help those of us with rheumatoid arthritis.
