Osteoporosis
NSW is an activity of Arthritis NSW, committed
to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of
osteoporosis.
Our aim is to increase awareness and understanding
amongst the general public, GPs and other health
professionals.
Education Services provided by Osteoporosis
NSW include:
- the provision of a toll
free advice line (1800 242 141)which gives
assistance and up to date
information to callers.
- A variety of brochures
and booklets are also available free of charge.

the specific requirements of consumers,
GPs,
pharmacists and other health professionals.
New consumer information sheets are also
available in 5 languages.
- A quarterly newsletter is distributed to
our members to keep them abreast of
local news and
events. They also receive a national
magazine, Osteoblast, 3 times per year which
provides
information of a more medical nature.
- Community education seminars are held
on a regular basis throughout Sydney
and in
large rural centers. These events
are always popular
and well attended.
- A Health Professional program takes
the form of breakfasts where expert
speakers talk on
their area of specialty.
Two
events during the year gain particular attention.
Healthy Bones Week, held in August, tends
to focus on the education of school children.
World Osteoporosis
Day which is 20 October in 2007 concentrates
on improving the awareness of adults to bone
