What does a Peer Mentor do?
Peer-Mentors provide support to others living with arthritis (via phone call) through listening, sharing personal experiences, and by helping to find and access suitable information and services to support living well with arthritis.

View the Peer-Mentor role description for more.

What is the commitment of a Peer Mentor?
The time commitment per week varies depending on the number of people a Peer-Mentor is matched with at any one time. This number is entirely up to the Peer-Mentor.

Peer-Mentors make calls from the comfort of their home, or other suitable location (quiet, private space). So there is no travel requirements.

Peer-Mentors initially complete special training before being matched with people for peer support. This requires access to a computer and a phone to complete, and provides all the information and tools needed for the role.

What experience does a Peer Mentor need?
Peer-Mentors must have lived with arthritis, or cared for a child living with arthritis, ideally for at least around two years.

There is no specific experience required, but Peer-Mentors should be comfortable sharing their own story with others, and be able to communicate with empathy.
