Please help people in rural NSW gain better access to heath information
For the past 18 months, your generosity has brought much needed health education to people living with arthritis in rural areas of NSW. In that time, almost 700 people have attended our free seminars in Mudgee, Albury, Henty, Macksville, Parkes and Bathurst, or spoken to our Health Team at their agricultural shows.
The seminar presentation Living Well With Arthritis has given audiences information that helps to reduce inflammation and immobility through nutrition, exercise and pain management.
Arthritis NSW is able to run the Rural Health Program thanks to your generous donations to our Christmas Appeal each year. The funds raised from the Christmas Appeal enable our Health Team to go out on the road and deliver the seminar as a free event.
One of this year’s seminars was held in Mudgee in August (pictured below). More than 150 people gathered to hear the latest condition information and self-management strategies and later expressed their appreciation for the event, made possible through your kind donation.
‘I was amazed at the presenter’s breadth of knowledge. I learned that I have to exercise more and he mentioned that Tai Chi was a good gentle exercise, so I might try that.’
‘It was a brilliant seminar. The presenter really knows his subject and believes in what he says.’
‘The information was pitched at the right level for the audience. Others I spoke to on the day agreed with me. It was very informative, yet relaxed.’
